10-year-old wows audience
A 10-year-old pupil from Hilaby Turners Hall Primary School stole the hearts of hundreds of patrons who attended last night’s Massy Stores Independence Gospel Explosion at the Wildey Gymnasium.
Diminutive, but fearless and vocally powerful and charismatic Shem White walked onto the stage to deafening screams and left to even louder ones that amounted to an encore.
The engaging schoolboy told Barbados TODAY afterwards that he had been receiving many requests to sing at churches across Barbados, but “I had to miss one.”
Having already endeared himself to those who heard him before, Shem continued to win even more hearts through his inspiring, alluring and amazingly confident performance for a child of such a tender age.
Shem was so captivating that when international headliner Bridget Blucher, who followed, came on stage to do her set she called him out to join her in singing By The Rivers of Babylon, which impressed her even more.
