Rain rules out women’s action
Heavy rain last weekend forced the Barbados Football Association to reschedule three of its matches yesterday in the women’s Premier League competition.
The games had been set for Friendship where Technique Football Club were down to play Genesis, Eden Stars Unity 1 Women were up against UWI Women FC and Mavericks Football Club were poised to clash with Empire.
With the rescheduled itinerary, all matches will be played this Sunday at Emmerton.
Genesis, who has won six of their ten matches and lost just one, are on 19 points and will now face Technique at 3 p.m.
They are just behind National Sports Council WFT who are out front in the points standing with 25 points after playing ten games. They have so far won eight games, lost one and drawn the other.
Genesis will definitely have an advantage over Technique Football Club who are on six points and are in sixth position in the points standing. They are just ahead of Empire who lie bottom of the table after managing to scrape just one point in the tournament.
Eden Stars Unity 1 Women will have to do a bit of work in the 5 pm game if they are to get the better of UWI Women FC who are third on 19 points and have played well so far in the tournament.
Mavericks and Empire, meanwhile, will clash in the feature game scheduled for 7 p.m. and many expect Mavericks to have an easy game against their opponents who have struggled throughout the season. Empire have failed to win a single game in competition while Mavericks have won six and go into that game with a major advantage.
