Flood warning discontinued

A flood warning, which has been in effect for Barbados for most of today, was discontinued by the Barbados met office at 4:30pm today.

The warning, which was issued at 6 a.m. Friday, was originally due to be terminated at noon, but  it was extended based on persistent showers and rainy weather conditions.

However, in a brief statement, the officials said that “with the trough system lingering over the area for at least another 12 to 24 hours, the island will continue to experience generally cloudy skies and intermittent showers tonight and into tomorrow”.

Today schools were closed and several events cancelled as a result of the inclement weather.
