Benn named in squad for Jamaica

Combative West Indies left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn has been included in the 13-man Barbados Pride squad to face Jamaica in the second round of the WICB Professional Cricket League at the Windward Cricket Club starting Friday.

The 33-year-old missed the first game against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force last weekend in Port of Spain through injury, but has now been declared fit for the encounter against the Jamaicans.

All-rounders Roston Chase and veteran Ryan Hinds, who travelled to Port of Spain as part of the squad, have been left out.

Barbados dominated the game against T&T but rain wrecked their chances of securing an outright win when it allowed only 14.4 overs on yesterday’s final day.

Jamaica, meanwhile, beat Windward Island Volcanoes by 13 runs in their first round game at Sabina Park in Kingston.

SQUAD – Kraigg Brathwaite (captain), Sulieman Benn, Carlos Brathwaite, Jonathan Carter, Miguel Cummins, Shane Dowrich, Jason Holder, Shai Hope, Ashley Nurse, Omar Phillips, Kemar Roach, Dwayne Smith, Jomel Warrican.
