Turkey galore

Barbadians will get all the turkeys they need this Christmas.

That assurance from General Manager and Director of Chickmont Foods Edward Albecker who told Barbados TODAY that 7,000 turkeys had already been processed and others would soon follow.

Albecker said the promise made after the fire at the Chickmont-operated ZRS Farms that destroyed a pen and 7,000 two-week-old turkeys on August 26, would be fulfilled.

“As promised there will be an abundance of turkeys this Christmas,” he said.

Albecker said construction on a new pen had not yet started as the company was “still finalizing details with the insurance.”

Once that is completed, he said, the equipment would be ordered and the new pen would be constructed in the New Year.
