Local gymnasts to get US training

Aziza Boxill and Adeyah Brewster

Two locally trained gymnasts and members of the national gymnastics team, Adeyah Brewster and Aziza Boxill have been chosen to participate in the Pan American Gymnastics Union training camp in Houston, Texas.

From today until Friday, for six hours each day, they will be instructed by members of the US national coaching staff.

This will be an opportunity for Brewster and Boxill to not only experience what is involved in elite level training but to improve on their current skills and learn new ones.

“Training alongside the elite level athletes from some of the other countries in the Pan Americas will also serve as a motivator to the girls, encouraging them to work hard, persevere and take home with them a very valuable experience that they can share with their teammates,” a statement said.

The gymnasts will be accompanied by the Head Coach Alison Jackson.

Later this month some members of the Barbados Team will be travelling to Rock Hill, South Carolina USA, to compete in the Crown of the Carolinas Invitational.
