Catching queens

Some members of the Barbados Game Fishing Association (BGFA) took to the high seas over the weekend on a fishing expedition that netted them some 300 pounds of queen snappers. The team aboard Lubalee comprised captain Anthony “Thommo” Thompson, Omar Payne, Ricardo Roach and boat owner Rudolph Best. The experienced foursome travelled out to sea about 13 miles south-east from the Bridgetown Fishing Complex to make their haul. Captain Thompson said that all was not lost in terms of making a decent catch even with the recent problems associated with the sargassum weed. Thompson is one of the island’s fishing stalwarts, and a regular participant in the annual BGFA’s International Tournament as well as the B. Here, from left, Thompson, Payne, Roach and Best showing off yesterday’s catch.
