More rain ahead

Tropical wave anticipated this weekend

The flood warning for Barbados has been discontinued but there is more bad weather on the horizon.

Acting chief meteorologist Clairmonte Williams told Barbados TODAY Barbadians can expect some more rain this weekend.

“There is another tropical wave which we are expecting late tomorrow into Sunday. Even though we are going to see some light improvements into the first part of tomorrow, we are likely to see a few more showers,” he said.

At 6 pm, meteorological officials lifted the flood warning, which had been in effect since 10 in the morning, as weather conditions improved.

For the eight hours in between, however, the country was drenched with heavy showers that left some
areas flooded.

The inclement weather also resulted in power outages in some areas across the island, including Workmans, St George; Trents, St James; Dukes, St Thomas; Rock Hall, St Lucy; and Maxwell, Christ Church.

However, the Barbados Light & Power Company said crews were able to restore power to the affected communities by this evening.
