Football tourney starting soon

The Barbados Soccer Academy will be hosting the nightly Speightstown Outta Season Tournament, formerly known as the Super League Soccer Tournament, from August 24.

The tourney will comprise of 32 teams participating in eight zones with four teams in each zone. The top two teams in each zone qualify for the knockout stage of 16 teams, then there will be the quarterfinals, semifinals, third place and finals.

The first prize will be $8,000 second place is $3,000 third place is $2,000 and fourth place $1,000

The tournament is expected to be played four times a week, with competition for various team prizes and individual awards throughout. The tournament will also be used to showcase players to the many international college and club coaches expected in the island to scout for talent.
