Karaoke steals Headliners show

Pic-O-De-Crop Monarch, Ian Webster, brought life to a sedate crowd as Headliners Calypso Tent held its third showing for the 2014 Crop Over season last night.

Decked out in an afro wig, plaid suit and scarf, Webster lampooned leading Barbadian personalities, including politicians, as he created cutting lines from a Jackie Opel classic.

He impersonated an opposition politician singing, ‘You’re no good’ and a Government MP indicating she should take to the streets naked, as he caroled, ‘Poor little rich girl’.

Overall, nine calypsonians entertained the attentive, but mostly silent audience for almost three hours at the Needham’s Point, Fort, seaside locale of the Hilton.

MC, Adrian Boo Husbands, gave thanks to the event hosts, as he jokingly sang Pradeep Wine, a pun on the chutney classic Nani Wine by Trinidad’s Crazy, while the hotel’s Food and Beverage Manager, Pradeep Rajan, stood stick-like – on stage.
