Executive Director of the Barbados Manufacturers’ Association Bobbi McKay is “on a high” following the large participation of young entrepreneurs in the 2014 Barbados Manufacturers’ Exhibition (BMEX).

McKay said she was overjoyed with the turnout as well as the thought that went into showcasing the products at the expo BMEX 1held from June 6 to 9 at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.

Not only have we had young people who were doing projects but we have young people who are making new products,” she said.

We’ve had from bags to assorted chips to vegetarian patties. We had a young man who was blowing glass. Every time we turned a corner you saw another young person doing something amazing and all different. One young lady made baby accessories, diaper pads and bibs and so [there were] new stuff which I’ve been call for a long time and I feel really good about it. I’m on a high. I’ve been on a high all weekend.”

Overall, there were 206 booths at BMEX, the largest showing in about 14 years.
