Bay Primary played impressively to win both of their games against St Bernard’s Primary and Hilda Skeene Primary respectively in the Pine Hill Dairy-sponsored National Sports Council’s Primary Schools Netball Competition at the Netball Stadium today.
In their opening zone 3 match against St Bernard’s, Bay Primary had a dominant start when they led the first half 9-1. They added just one point with the final tally 10-6 with goal-shoot Shanice Downie scoring five goals from six attempts and goal-attack Jhenna Clarke five from five respectively. St Bernard’s goal-attack Brianna Forde scored four from seven and goal-shoot Teshera Holdip had two goals from five attempts.
Bay Primary continued their assault, this time on Hilda Skeene Primary when they won 10-4. Bay primary went into the second half leading 7-1 with goal-attack Rowland Kirton- Greenidge ending with a game high six goals from eight attempts while goal-shoot, Jhenna Clarke had four from seven.
Goal-attack for Hilda Skeene Neena Gittens scored three goals from four attempts and goal-shoot Kiara Gibson one from three.
Things just went from bad to worse for Hilda Skeene Primary who were defeated 7-1 when they played against Belmont Primary. Goal-attack Faith Jackson scored four from four and goal-shoot Deasha Chase chipped in with three from four. Goal-attack Nerika Gittens was the lone goal-scorer for Hilda Skeene with one from one.
Belmont primary were also victorious against All Saints Primary with a close 12-11 result. Belmont goal-attack Julisa Jones- Smith scored eight from 13 and goal-shoot Faith Jackson four from 11. Scoring for All Saints were goal-shoot Kiara Cumberbatch who scored nine from 11 and goal-attack Amarisa Maynard three from four.
All Saints Primary despite losing to Belmont came back strong when they played against St Bernard’s Primary with a 9-2 win. The combo of Maynard who played goal-attack scored three from four and Cumberbatch in the role of goal-shoot scored six from eight.
In zone four Reynold Weekes won both of their matches with the first being against Ignatius Byer Primary, 8-3. Reynold Weeekes lead the first half 2-1 but upped the tempo in the following period with Reynold Weekes’ goal-attack Raynesha Leon scoring seven from eight and goal-shoot Derica Haynes one from four. Abigale Alleyne who played goal-shoot for Ignatius Byer scored three out of her three attempts.
West Terrace were also defeated by Reynold Weekes 8-7 in what was a close game. Reynold Weekes scored that crucial goal seconds before the final whistle was blown. Goal-attack Raynesha Leon scored six goals from six attempts and goal-shoot Derica Haynes had two from two. Adonica Phillip, goal-shoot for West Terrace, scored seven from her eight attempts.
It simply was not West Terrace’s day and St Mary’s took full advantage of that when they won 8-6. Goal-shoot Marisa Corbin had four from five and goal-shoot Sharrena Belgrave four from five. West Terrace’s goal-attack Roshea Williams scored five goals from six attempts and goal-shoot Adonica Phillips, one from two.
Grantley Prescod Primary were among the successful teams on the day when they thrashed St Mary’s Primary 9-3. Goal-attack Shakira Corbin had five from five and goal-shoot Alleyne scored four from seven. Corbin had five from five and Alleyne scored four from seven. Corbin was the lone goal scorer for St Mary’s with three from five.
In their second game Grantley Prescod won 4-3 against Ignatius Byer with goal-attack Corbin gaining two from her seven attempts and goal-shoot Alleyne one from five. Ashley Phillips despite her team losing performance played well and scored three goals from three attempts.
