He’s best known for his work on the CW hit TV series The Vampire Diaries, and on the ABC critically acclaimed drama Lost, but today actor Ian Somerhalder was in the spotlight for a different reason here in Barbados.

He was officially appointed United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Goodwill Ambassador as World Environment Day celebrations were held in Bridgetown.

Last night, at a reception at Hilton Barbados Resort, Somerhalder had the attention of Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and Minister of the Environment Dr Denis Lowe.
