Hard fought win
Sharon hold off St Alban’s attack for 1-0 victory
Sharon Primary held on for a hard-fought 1-0 victory over St Alban’s Primary in the BICO-sponsored National Sports Council’s Primary Schools Football Competition at Bagatelle, St Thomas today.
The teams appeared to be equally matched and played competitively throughout, especially in the first-half when they virtually shared 50-50 ball possession and made attacking forays into each other’s half. But at the break the score was 0-0.
When the second-half resumed on referee Richard Forde’s whistle, Sharon Primary striker Jaden Harrison was on to the ball in a flash as he dribbled his way past two St Alban’s defenders and booted the ball to the right of St Alban’s goalkeeper Rojae Griffith and into the nets. St Alban’s put up a strong challenge after that goal was scored and tried to create a few opportunities but Sharon’s defense remained steadfast which allowed them to leave the ground with the positive result.
