Barbados defeated by Jamaica

Jamaica beat Barbados by one wicket – ten minutes after the scheduled lunch interval on the fourth and final day of their WICB first-class semi-final at Kensington Oval here today.

Chasing 167 to win and resuming on 106 for two, Jamaica scored 167 for nine off 57 overs.

Jermaine Blackwood topscored with 64 from his overnight 53. He batted for 121 minutes, faced 98 balls and struck eight fours and one six.

The not out batsmen were David Bernard on 14 and Nikita Miller, three.

Medium-pacer Kevin Stoute took five for 29 off 16 overs and left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn, three for 78 off 26 overs.

Today, Andre McCarthy, who started the day on 41, was caught at extra-cover by Kraigg Brathwaite off Benn for 43 (111-3; 28.4 overs).

Blackwood, driving, was caught at the wicket by Shane Dowrich off Stoute (123-4; 33.3 overs).

Carlton Baugh was run out for the second time in the match, for one (129-5; 36.1 overs).

Captain Tamar Lambert, driving, was caught at slip by Benn off Stoute for ten (133-6; 41.3 overs).

Sheldon Cottrell, swinging, was bowled by Stoute for one (139-7; 43.1 overs).

Damion Jacobs, driving, was brilliantly caught at gully by Ashley Nurse off Stoute for nought (139-8; 43.3 overs).

And Jerome Taylor was caught at slip by Benn off Stoute for 12 (155-9; 46 overs).

Yesterday, Nkrumah Bonner was caught at second slip by Jonathan Carter off Benn for nought (1-1; 1.3 overs).

And left-hander John Campbell was caught at mid-on by Carlos Brathwaite off Benn for ten (20-2; 5.3 overs).
