Victory for Barbados

Barbados beat the Leeward Islands by an innings and 49 runs just after noon on the third day of their seventh and final round WICB first-class match at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground in Antigua today.

The Leeward Islands, with a first innings deficit of 232 and starting the day on 54 for two, were bowled out for 183 in 55.5 overs in their second innings.

Devon Thomas, who resumed on nought, topscored with 60.

Fast bowler Fidel Edwards was the leading wicket-taker with four for 24 off 7.5 overs.

Off-spinner Ashley Nurse took three for 94 and left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn, two for 52.

The match ended at 12:04 p.m.

Today, captain Kieran Powell, who resumed on 23, was caught at slip by Benn off Nurse for 31 (66-3).

Jahmar Hamilton, driving, was caught at mid-off by Fidel Edwards off Nurse for 26 (124-4).

Jaison Peters was caught at the wicket by Shane Dowrich off Fidel Edwards for 15 (155-5).

Jacques Taylor was caught at mid-on by Kirk Edwards off Fidel Edwards for one (157-6).

Gavin Tonge was caught at deep cover by Shai Hope off Fidel Edwards for one (167-7).

Thomas was caught at forward short-leg by Omar Phillips off Benn (179-8).

Yannick Leonard was bowled off the inside edge by Fidel Edwards for eight (183-9).

And Anthony Martin was run out by a throw from mid-off by Kevin Stoute to Dowrich for nought (183 all out).

Kelbert Walters was not out on nought.

Yesterday, Javier Liburd was caught at forward short-leg by Phillips off Nurse for four (22-1).

And Orlando Peters was bowled by Benn for 17 (56-2).
