Barbados in strong position against Leeward Islands

Barbados, starting the day on 167 for one, were 263 for six off 106 overs in reply to a first innings total of 94 all out in 34.4 overs all out by the Leeward Islands – one hour after lunch on the second day of their seventh and final round WICB first-class match at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground in Antigua today.

The not out batsmen were Shai Hope on 13 and Carlos Brathwaite, ten.

Today, Kirk Edwards, who resumed in ten, was caught at point by Orlando Peters as he essayed a big drive off off-spinner Jacques Taylor for 23 (189-2).

Captain Kraigg Brathwaite, pushing forward, was leg before wicket by leg-spinner Anthony Martin for 92 from his overnight 73 (219-3).

Jonathan Carter was bowled behind his legs off the thigh pad by pacer Kelbert Walters for 40 (246-4).

Kevin Stoute was bowled by a yorker from Walters for nought, first ball (246-5).

And Shane Dowrich, driving, was caught at point by Orlando Peters off Taylor for two (253-6).

Kraigg Brathwaite batted for 331 minutes, faced 273 balls and struck 11 fours.

Yesterday, Omar Phillips was caught at midwicket by Jahmar Hamilton off Martin for 79 (146-1). (bcacricket)
