Journalist questioned

Almost a year after three leading members of the parliamentary Opposition were questioned by police about comments they made about Speaker of the House of Assembly Michael Carrington during an Opposition walk-out, it was the turn of the journalist who penned the story to go before lawmen today.

Nation reporter Barry Alleyne was questioned this morning by investigators at the District “A” Police Station, following the incident last July.

The matter has been referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions for criminal investigation.

Today, Alleyne, accompanied by his lawyer Ezra Alleyne and supported by his publisher Vivian-Anne Gittens, editor-in-chief Roy Morris and associate editors Tim Slinger and Eric Smith, entered the station just around 9:30 a.m. and emerged about 45 minutes later.
