Barbados declare on 479

Ashley Nurse and Carlos Brathwaite both recorded maiden first-class centuries as Barbados amassed 479 for eight declared off 124.5 overs in their first innings – half-an-hour after lunch on the second day of their fourth round WICB first-class match against Trinidad & Tobago at Kensington Oval today.

Nurse slammed a swashbuckling, unbeaten 130 in 115 minutes off 111 balls with 16 fours and four sixes, while Brathwaite made 109 after starting the day on 20.

Brathwaite batted for 215 minutes, received 136 balls and hit six fours and two sixes.

Both aged 25, Carlos Brathwaite and Nurse added 190 in 28.3 overs for the eighth wicket as Barbados piled on the runs after starting the day on 243 for five off 90 overs.

Wicket-keeper/batsman, who resumed today on 50, scored 53, while on the opening day, Omar Phillips made 67, Jonathan Carter 45 and Kirk Edwards, 41.

Fast bowler Shannon Gabriel was the leading wicket-taker with four for 69 off 22 overs, while off-spinner Jason Mohammed picked up two for 61 off 18.5 overs and leg-spinner Imran Khan, two fore 132 off 36 overs.
