Rain washes out Barbados-CCC match

Unexpected steady rain delayed Kraigg Brathwaite from chasing his sixth first-class hundred and Barbados from advancing against Combined Campuses & Colleges (CCC) in the Regional Four-Day Tournament yesterday.

Brathwaite remained unbeaten on 85 and Shane Dowrich was not out on eight, as Barbados progressed only with a leg bye to reach 249 for four, replying to CCC’s first innings total of 269, when rain brought play to a close on the third day of the third-round match at the Three Ws Oval.

Only 14 deliveries in nine minutes were possible, after play started seven hours and 20 minutes later than scheduled due to the weather and Barbados resumed from their overnight total of 248 for four.

The lights were turned on to assist with play proceeding, but the weather interrupted well before the rescheduled close of 6 p.m. East Caribbean Time.

Play on the final day today is scheduled to start half-hour earlier than scheduled at 9:30 a.m.

Barbados, who hold a 4-3 edge in this head-to-head battle, are fourth on 19 points and CCC are bottom of the seven-team table on four points. (CMC)
