Man commits suicide after stabbing fiancée and friend

Police are investigating the stabbing of two women and the suspected suicide of their alleged attacker – the fiancé of one of the women – at Woodstock Road, Spooners Hill, St. Michael.

Public Relations Officer Inspector David Welch said Vincent McClean Marshall, 60, reportedly stabbed his 50-year-old fiancée, Judy Brathwaite, both of Woodstock Road, and her friend Maureen Callender Harris before drinking a poisonous substance.

The incident occurred around 7 o’clock on Wednesday night.

Welch said Marshall allegedly stabbed Brathwaite in her stomach and also turned on Harris who he stabbed in the abdomen.

They were both taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where Harris underwent emergency surgery.

Police say that at some point, Marshall drank the poisonous liquid and was rushed to the hospital but subsequently died.

What does domestic violence have to do with whether or not people come to Barbados? This is life Anywhere in any country, in any city, big or small. Sad by true. New York have these things n more on a bigger scale and people still come to the big apple (smh). Worry about customer service n the cleanest of the country , the bus system, the price on food and so on. These r some of the thing that individuals can help with. Sorry to read about this but this is reality all over.

These type of men are insecure cowards. There needs to be a zero tolerance attitude towards this crime better laws to protect the women . Our lifeline.

Are you for real? Who the hell wants to pay good money to come to an island where the men are animals? Domestic violence is a sign of a dysfunctional society, a dysfunctional environment and an environment where it’s OK to beat women? Look at how many tourist were raped last year, then look at how many men were prosecuted for it. You will find that the police taKE NO ACTION ON RAPE

I am against domestic violence of any kind period. Persons are living they life one day at a time the best way they can. NO ONE is living they life saying “if I do this or that that persons r not going to come to my shores and spend money”. If domestic violence is the result of a dysfunctional society and men who are animals my question would be where r u going to visit/ live ? It must be in the middle if the ocean( I will let u choose which ocean lol). I do hope that laws r in place and that the police is doing they job in fighting crime and that justice Is serve

What happens in other countrys or islands is no concern to barbados let them sort that out. What concerns bajans and friends of barbados is what is happening no this island. We must up our standards and wipe out crime especialy crimes against women. Zero tolerance. protect our women and our good name. GOD BLESS BARBADOS AND GUIDE AND PROTECT US. Love & respect
