Flow Sentry Brokers Deacons are queens of the Goddard Enterprises Senior Volleyball Knockout Tournament.

Last night in a thrilling finale at the Wildey Gymnasium, Deacons defeated last year’s champions Brydens Rockets 23-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23.

Rockets took the closely contested first set on the strength of some excellent offensive play and their desperate efforts to make defensive returns. But that was as good as it got as the effort seemed to simultaneously take much energy out of them and also spur Deacons to raise their game to an even higher level.

The result was that although Rockets fought all the way, Deacons reeled off three successive set wins to take the coveted title.

Deacons’ men could not match the women in their knockout final against Chargers, as Chargers won an excitingly close match-up 25-23, 23-25, 25-13, 16-25, 15-11.
