Three shot dead in Bahamas

regionalremovingbodyinbahamasNASSAU — Three people were shot dead in separate incidents on New Providence over the weekend, police said.

One of the killings occurred on Saturday night when a man was shot in front of a residence in Nassau Village.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Anthony Ferguson said the man was walking along Ashley Close shortly before 8 p.m. when three armed men in a white vehicle ambushed him.

Within minutes of the unidentified man’s murder, residents filed into the street.

There were at least two fights among the crowd as police processed the scene.

Police eventually restrained the crowd and the man’s body was transported from the scene.

Hours earlier, a woman was shot while in a car in Pinewood Gardens, police said.

She was a backseat passenger in a blue Honda Accord.

Superintendent Paul Rolle, head of the Central Detective Unit, said the man driving that Honda Accord and his two female passengers left a wedding reception on East Street around 2 p.m.

He said they were travelling along Sequoia Street when the occupants of a red Ford Explorer pulled alongside them and began shooting.

The Honda was riddled with bullets, according to police. (Nassau Guardian)
