Spreading sunshine in the rain

dayforumbrellasyellowScores of Barbadians who braved the recent heavy rains to get to work received “a ray of sunshine” from The Barbados Yellow Pages, which distributed large umbrellas to persons on the streets to assist them with sheltering from the elements.

Teams donned yellow rain coats and boats to spread the cheer in several areas.

Marketing Manager of the Barbados Yellow Pages, Pam Roach, noted: “We are delighted to have contributed to the many persons who were on the roads trying to get to work… We hope that our large bright yellow umbrellas would have provided some sunshine to their commute and when they use the umbrellas again it will serve to remind them that Corporate Barbados does care.”

The Sunshine Umbrellas initiative, which was conducted in Holetown, Black Rock, Bridgetown and Hastings was organised by Outside The Box Inc.

Managing Director, Suzanne Prescod, expressed delight with the responses from the persons who received the umbrellas.

“A dreary, dark day was transformed for many individuals and families when they received a surprise gift which they could use immediately…,” she said.

dayforumbrellasbus“Frowns were immediately changed to smiles and we are confident everyone who received the large umbrellas had a much better day… We look forward to expanding the concept in the near future to other parishes.”
