Paris doing better

entkatherineparisjacksonKatherine Jackson says granddaughter Paris Jackson is on the road to recovery after attempting to take her own life back in June. In a new interview with the U.K.’s HELLO! magazine, the 83-year-old matriarch of the Jackson family shares an update on Paris’ progress while she receives treatment at an undisclosed facility.

“She is in a good place, getting the help she needs,” Katherine says of the 15-year-old. “She’s doing much better.”

Katherine shares legal guardianship over late son Michael Jackson’s three children – Paris, Prince, 16, and Blanket, 11- with grandson TJ. The King of Pop’s only daughter attempted suicide by cutting herself with a kitchen knife and overdosing on “20 Motrin” in June, sources previously told Us Weekly.

“The treatment is going good, really good. She’s my baby. It’s hard for me, really hard,” Katherine explains. “All I wanted these kids to be is happy. The night Michael died [in June 2009] Paris was crying and said, ‘I want to go and see daddy; I don’t want to be without him.'”

Michael would have celebrated his 55th birthday on Thursday, August 29. “She has major depression issues, a lot of it stemming from her dad’s death,” a source told Us about Paris at the time of her suicide attempt. “It’s very real and very sad.”

Katherine’s son, Paris’ uncle Randy Jackson, apparently disagrees with the treatment his niece is receiving. In a Twitter rant on August 19, Randy, 51, wrote, “I don’t like that Paris is still in this facility. It’s not right. She’s been there much too long. She is not psychotic. There is no reason for her to be in a psychiatric hospital this long away from her family. I just hate the fact that you will probably still be there on my brother’s birthday. This is not good.”

Paris’ biological mother, Debbie Rowe, denied Randy’s claims that her daughter was in a psychiatric hospital. “As usual you are grossly misinformed,” she tweeted at Randy on August 19. (Us Weekly)
