Combermere’s batting machine clicked into high gear yesterday as they completed a 171-run win over Presentation College of Trinidad and Tobago in the sixth round of the annual Sir Garfield Sobers International Tournament.

Jamar Brathwaite, Leniko Boucher and Ian Boyce led the way with 71, 62 and 57 not out respectively in Combermere’s 272 for 9 in their 40 overs; this in spite of John-Michael Chadee’s 4 for 37. Sachin Clarke then grabbed 4 for 14 as Presentation College collapsed for 101 in 35 overs.

In other Zone A matches United Kingdom School Solihull beat St. Lucia’s Choiseul by 5 wickets; Foundation recorded a four-wicket win over Trinidad and Tobago’s Vishnu Boys and Fatima scored a 4-wicket win over Christianburg of Guyana.

Meanwhile, Powergen Penal continued its winning ways in Zone B beating Pinelands by 88 runs. Dillon Mohammed hit 52 out of Penal’s 220 for 7 in 33 overs. Pinelands fell for 132 in 28 overs, Jordan Ramkaran collecting 5 wickets for 33 runs.

In the other Zone matches BCL Juniors beat Dominica by 7 wickets; St. Leonard’s beat New Amsterdam by 84 runs and Queen’s Park Club posted a 6-wicket win over Antigua.

The seventh round of matches is scheduled for tomorrow as today is a rest day in this 27th edition of the prestigious schools cricket competition.
