New buggies for business

Local businessman known as “Tony Tony” is still trying to figure out exactly what he’s going to do with two brand new buggies (minus the horses) that came in as a gift from his daughter today.

Popular Richmond Gap, St. Michael businessman “Tony Tony” caused a stir today when he collected and unpacked two buggies from a container fresh from the Bridgetown Port.

Tony said the buggies, like those seen in movies or in Central Park, New York, were gifts from his daughter, who would shortly be returning home to Barbados from abroad.

He said the two vehicles, one red and the other white, were bought at an auction in Georgia and “were not cheap”.

“I guess she [his daughter] wanted to give her dad a treat,” said Tony with a laugh, less than a week after Father’s Day.

“I don’t know what she plans to do with them because at 71 years, there is not a lot a man like me can do with them. I know she is getting ready to come home and she has a daughter as well who is about 24 years old, so I don’t know if they will decide to work them here,” he said, when asked about the plans for the two unique vehicles.

Tony explained that he always had buggies in Barbados, and these two new ones were “top of the line” and he believed they could work well for weddings and specialty events. (LB)
