Bolt must earn 100m spot for Worlds

OUsain Bolt, the triple Olympic champion from the London Games, will have to qualify for the 100 metres at this year’s world championships after Jamaican officials handed the country’s automatic entry to his training partner Yohan Blake.

Bolt, though, was handed his country’s wildcard entry to the 200m after the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association ruled in his favour for the longer sprint.

The JAAA was forced to choose between its own athletes after the sport’s world governing body ruled that only one wildcard would be allowed per country for each event.

There is the possibility (dare I mention) that ‘The Bolt’ may injure himself trying to compete with ‘the best’ knowing that he is not in absolute prime physical condition combined with not being 100% healthy. Check the times, as this will show that he is on average about 0.19 – 0.21 seconds off his ‘normal’ speed. That difference will open the floodgates for any ‘above average Joe’ to clock in ahead of him in the 100m. However in the 200m I cannot see him winning by less than 0.10 over the competition even with the present state of affairs.
