windies edge pakistan in thriller

West Indies limped to a two-wicket victory in their opening Champions Trophy match against Pakistan at The Oval today.

After Kemar Roach (3/28) and Sunil Narine (3/24) had picked three wickets apiece to dismiss Pakistan for a paltry 170, West Indies batsmen as has become too frequent a practice, made heavy weather of the small chase.

Despite a lengthy batting line-up, it needed the unlikely pair of Denesh Ramdin and Sunil Narine to stitch a quick partnership down the order, to help the West Indies seal the nail-biting encounter.

The scoreboard would show that they won with 56 balls to spare but the chase was anything but easy.
