Fun in the Tropics
expect an explosion of colour on the road foreday mornin’
A 500-strong explosion of fun and colour is what the bandleaders of Only In The Tropics will be bringing to the Foreday Mornin’ Jam this year.
The band was launched last Friday night at The Villages at Coverley, and Corey Clarke, one of the three leaders, told Barbados TODAY that this year they will be playing mas’ with Whistles and Horn, which is the name of the band.
“This year we have incorporated a fete, Aurora, which will beheld in July… Our packages included a racer back or tee-shirt for the women and we’re including socks as well and for the guys it will be a shirt and all the drinks. There will be paint, mud and powder this year,” he said.
Clarke said they had secured sponsorship from last year so it was not a difficult task getting the operation up and running this time around.
“We have an additional sponsor this year and it was easier. As you go along people are more willing to sponsor you because they realise the brand is out there and they want to attach their name to it.
“If you’re coming into it, like how we were, they don’t really want to put a brand onto something that’s not successful,” he said.
The other members of group are O’brian Worrell and Shane Turton and this is their sixth year. (DS)
