Taste the sweet

cropover2013candylandA sweet treat awaits young revellers who jump with Candyland Junior Kadooment band and they could be stepping into a fantasy land come July 27.

Band leader and designer Cassandra Mottley told Barbados TODAY that the concept came after a brainstorming session for children’s costumes while she was studying at the Barbados Community College.

“Although that was a year ago, it stuck with me. It is something that I really love and I decided to run with it because I know that most children can relate,” she said.

Mottley made the costumes herself but she got some input from her children, particularly her 14-year-old daughter.

There are seven sections: Candy Cane, Kisses, Cupcakes, Cotton Candy, Hard Candy, Lollipops, and Skittles.

The Skittles section is for older children – 10 years and up.

The package includes the costume, face painting, breakfast, lunch, drinks, snacks, goodie bag, security, music truck and discount card for the Inspire Design Summer Camp.

Registration ends on July 13. For more information you can check out the band’s Facebook page Kiddies Kadooment Band or their website (DS)
