Pilots for a day.

This is possibly how the little ones at the Eden Lodge Nursery school felt today as they toured the Grantley Adams International Airport and the Barbados Light Aeroplane Club in Charnocks Christ Church.

As part of their year-long theme of activities, I Am Bajan, the preschoolers, who this year focussed on Places Of Interest, appeared thrilled as they visited the shops within the airport. At the aeroplane club, though they were not allowed to board the planes, they had a blast viewing the control panel and pretending they were using them to pilot the plane.

Play means nothing unless an educational element is added and teacher, Shelly Leacock, assured Barbados TODAY the children were very excited to learn also. Having previously learnt about the Father of Independence, Errol Barrow, and other National Heroes, in another session called Proud Barbadians this opportunity gave them another chance to learn more about Barrow — this time the pilot.

Today’s adventure may have ended but the tots still have other places of interest to tour like beaches, parks and buildings during the remainder of the term. Prior to this morning they visited Ilaro Court and Queen’s Park. (KC)
