Stray Cats ready to celebrate

The Stray Cats are getting ready to roar as they celebrate a significant milestone this Crop-Over.

Tent Manager Jerry Roberts is upbeat about this season and is hard at work fine-tuning the music and arrangements as well as the venue and backing band for the St. Philip based tent which is set to go before the Pic-O-De-Crop, Sweet Soca and Party Monarch judges first on June 25.

In an interview with Bajan Vibes, he disclosed that he just returned from Canada where he worked with David Cole and Mannie Leslie of Blue Rhythm Combo in the area of writing and arranging music while Anthony Waldron who is the main song writer.

“I’m an original member of the Blue Rhythm Combo and those guys are helping me with my music. I have about 12 songs so far,” he said.

Apart from Roberts, aka the Big Boar Cat, the line up includes Annie Anna, Mighty Concrete, Dimples, Foreigner, Queen Kim, Vince, Khadaffi, Jesse Ross, King Corbin, Private, Sammy and Constructor.

Ayana John is joining the Kittens and Tony Waldron is the MC.

Stray Cats, the second oldest tent in the arena, is making its 20th consecutive year. (DS)
