No regrets

She gave up her job as Office Administrator at Novamed Family Clinic at the end of May last year to plunge full time into the gospel music ministry.

Eleven months later, passionate recording gospel artiste Neesha Woodz, real name Neesha Olivia Wooding, has no regrets.

Since quitting her office job, this singer/songwriter, guitarist and drummer, has been performing at lots of concerts, along with assisting the Cave Hill Wesleyan Holiness Church in its Worship Music Department. But the big news is all about her debut album.

Since last year Neesha had been preparing for this exciting CD release, which will be launched tomorrow at the Collymore Rock Nazarene Church. Her Adrenaline — title song from this album of the same name — is pumping 14 tracks of soca, dancehall, reggae, alternative, R&B and a spouge-zouk fusion.

Incidentally, Adrenaline is the name of her single which was formally put on the market on October 26 last year. This “hot” new album will be dedicated to the memory of Neesha’s dear mother, who died a year and a month ago and also coincides with her birth month.

Thirteen of the songs on the CD were written by this musical minister, with the other, More Precious, being co-authored by singer/songwriter Shane Forrester. Adrenaline is a soca song. Others include Nagga Bow, dancehall (a previous single), Your Love Is, an R&B and funk fusion and Holding Onto You, reggae. Tomorrow’s free launch, the artiste pointed out, will bring a more evangelistic flavour to the event, where patrons would be given the opportunity to give their lives to Christ.

Using the theme Adrenaline Praise Party – I Need You, Neesha will be supported by such guest acts as vocal doyens Paula Hinds and Allison Norville-Forde, along with Shane Forrester, the dynamic Miraclettes, Larix and Andre Belle. It begins at 6.30 p.m.

This young talent has also gone the music video route in order to give her message greater impact. Having already produced a video of More Precious, which has already recorded thousands of views on YouTube, she is capitalising on the popularity of her two singles for another music video.

“I see myself going international,” said the artiste who has penned over 150 songs.

She plans, as well, to establish a brand as part of a movement, with a special message targeting females. For starters, this ambitious young gospel singer intends to produce a special music video of More Precious to push that brand campaign with women in mind.

“I’ll be making it into a movement with a message for females,” she asserted. “My vision is based on the three Es — evangelism, encouragement and edification. I believe every song I write should encompass these elements. I just love God and evangelism is my heart. I love to tell people about God, sing about Him and try my best to live for Him,” she declared.
