Ten vie for title
Unie Ensemble’s Oral Welshman told Bajan Vibes the theme is One Family One World and the focus will be on family values.
“Its about developing the family and bringing the family together, taking care to develop the bonds between mothers and daughters. Mothers are the [backbone] of the family, they keep families together and bring about balance. Without mothers we’d be scattered and this does happen. I’m not saying fathers are bad but if mothers have died and are not involved in family, children are all around the place, mothers keep the family together. Trying to strengthen the bond between mothers and daughters is really, really important,” he said.
The producer said that with previous shows, the relationship between the delegates improved and this should be the case this time around.
“One of my dreams is to make it a reality show but everything is about dollars. I want the public to see how it grows. As a producer I can see it and feels it because I’m always around but the public sees the ending on the night of the show,” Welshman stated.
The patron of this year’s show is former educator Sylvia Goodridge.
The delegates are: Lisa Wall and Tanya McAllister, Cathy Corbin and Shanice Harper, Heather White and Julia Brathwaite, Cherrilann Yearwood and Kimberley Yearwood, Chidi Cheeseman and Alexis Cheeseman.
The show was launched on Saturday evening at Cooperator’s General Insurance headquarters in Collymore Rock. Apart from the introduction of delegates, there was modelling by the New Horizon Models, as well as poetry. (DS)
