Maple win with Agard knock

Veteran Maple batsman Pedro Agard was in excellent touch on Sunday during round four of the Keith Boyce Memorial Cricket Tournament.

Playing against Isolation Cavaliers at the KMV Oval in St. Andrew, Agard struck a fluent, unbeaten 92 as his Maple side successfully chased down the home team’s 162 for 7, reaching 163 for 5 to win by five wickets. Agard got good support from Shawn Ramsey who chipped in with 34.

Earlier Callitos Lopez bowled impressively to capture 3 for 28 in the Isolation Cavaliers innings.At Boscobelle, a Keith Boyce XI defeated Boscobelle by three wickets thanks to good batting from Rondelle Yearwood and Rohan Nurse.Batting first Boscobelle made 173 for 4 with both Mario Boyce (59) and Kevin Ramsay (53) scoring half-centuries.

Keith Boyce XI made heavy weather of the target but eventually reached their target compliments of a fine 53 from Yearwood and a supportive 43 struck by Nurse.

At Diamond Corner Diamondshire beat Lancashire by three wickets.

Batting first Lancashire scored 179 for 6 in 31 overs with Shon Stanford making 55 and Barbados left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican chipping in with 42. Monty Harry also made 38. Diamondshire then responded with 180 for 7.

The tournament is played annually in memory of former Barbados, Essex and West Indies fast-bowling all-rounder Keith Boyce. The dynamic Boyce who played an important role in the development of cricket in the north of the island, died on his 53rd birthday on October 11, 1996.†††
