Bonnets on display

The annual event saw a very good turn out of people from Speightstown and surrounding communities.
In the Under Nine category, of the six entrants, Seraphina Phillips, with a piece called Easter Wedding Bliss, came out on top, with Tia Archer and her Stop the Violence bonnet taking the second place, while Destiny Headley placed third with her piece named Because He Lives.
Chanelle Best, with a bonnet called Memories of the First Easter, won in the nine to 15 category. Paul Anderson Lucas’ Go fly Your Kite Parish Ambassadors earned him the second place, while Alliyah Walkes took the third place with Eden’s Magnificent Beauty.
In the Over 18 group, Fiona Walkes came out on top, followed by Sandra Skeete and her Joys of Easter and Beverly Richards with The Sacred Resting Place.
The judges were Naki Modoo, the former St. Peter Ambassador, Catherine Gibson tutor at Erdiston Teacher Training College and Art student and designer Sheriece Marshall.
For entertainment, the church’s youth group did two dance pieces titled Free and Holy Spirit Fill Session. They also sang the song My Redeemer Lives. Brandon Toppin performed a poem titled Searching for the Right Church, while Janelle Kato and Dwayne Headley performed a duet singing The Prayer. Senior members sang the song Faithful is Our God.
