Three held in foiled robbery

KINGSTON – Police in Clarendon acting on information foiled a robbery, arrested three men and seized a 9 millimetre pistol containing 15 live rounds on main street in May Pen yesterday afternoon.

The lawmen say they received information that three men travelling in a red Toyota Corolla motor car was planning a heist at a hardware store.

They say they intercepted the car in the vicinity of the store and the gun was recovered and all three men taken into custody.

The police say one of the three men taken into custody is already facing armed robbery charges and was out on bail.

They say he will be slapped with additional charges related to the latest gun seizure.

According to the police, the three would-be robbers are from the Farm and Havana Heights communities.

The police say they have taken nine illegal guns off the streets since the start of the year. (Gleaner)
