Drug accused remanded

The Jamaican woman charged with bringing cannabis in 28 tins of Jamaican ackee into Barbados, is now at Her Majesty’s Prison at Dodds, St. Philip.

That is because 29-year-old Elain Joy Robinson was remanded to jail until April 23, when she appeared in court today to answer four drug-related charges.

Robinson, who pleaded not guilty, is accused of possession of a controlled drug, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation.

After arriving at Grantley Adams International Airport last Friday, customs officials searched her suitcase and said they found a box containing 28 tins of Jamaican ackee, with a total weight of 28 pounds.

Police said each tin contained cannabis. (EJ)†
