Jamaican charged with possession of cannabis

Twenty eight tins of supposed Jamaica ackee have landed a young woman from that country before the Barbados law courts.

Police have arrested and charged 29 year old Elain Joy Robinson with bringing 28 pounds of cannabis in 28 tins of Jamaican ackee into this country through the Grantley Adams International Airport.

When Robinson appeared in court, she was ordered to go to Her Majesty’s Prison at Dodds, St. Philip until tomorrow when she has to be back before a magistrate.

She is facing four charges — possession of a controlled drug, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation.

Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector David Welch, is reporting that the accused arrived in Barbados on Friday from Jamaica. (EJ)
