The Barbados Light & Power Company Ltd. has recommitted itself to its Social Responsibility position with regard to helping to build and sustain stronger communities. This year, the company has committed itself to assisting in the areas of health, youth and sports.

To this end, BL&P recently extended a helping hand to a special lady in the St. Philip community when a team of employees presented her with a set of cookware. Valdine Alleyne, who is wheelchair bound and has been living with other health challenges for 22 years, was delighted to receive the gift, noting that she had been appealing to several companies for help and that BL&P was the only one to respond. She also expressed her appreciation to the Company for its kindness and promised the visiting BL&P team, that she will put her cookware to good use.

Corporate Communications Administrator, Jackie Marshall-Clarke, said: “As a corporate citizen, we are happy to assist with the welfare of Barbadians, especially when it is beneficial to their safety, health and wellness. Every year, we commit resources to fulfilling our social responsibilities through our support of community based projects and activities. We are happy to help when we can.”
