February 27 day for excellence

Barbadians are being asked to set aside Wednesday, February 27 as a day to begin the practice of paying special attention to their delivery of service excellence.

The appeal is coming from the Social Partners’ Planning Committee for the Week of Excellence, which opened its activities Sunday with a church service at the St. George Parish Church.

The committee wants all Barbadians to allocate an hour on that day to strive for excellence in whatever they did at home, at work, at play and while driving on the streets.

Citizens are also being urged to make excellence a characteristic that forms an essential part of their lives and the culture of the country.

The week, which was first observed in Barbados in 2003, is organised by a committee represented by the Productivity Council, the National Initiative for Service Excellence, the Barbados Employers Confederation, the Office of Public Sector Reform and the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados.

The business sessions for the week will deal with a variety of work site issues, including performance-based incentives plans and productivity. (EJ)†
