The setting at Ilaro Court was perfect. The entertainment was top class and demonstrated that Barbados is loaded with amazing talent.
The large crowd either sat on blankets or in chairs on the well manicured lawns of the official residence of the Prime Minister, and soaked up the rhythms, rhymes, songs and talk that safe sex is sexy, during the well organised four-and-a-hour show.
Oh what talent it was!
Biggie Irie, Nikki Nicole, Hal Linton, spoken word artists Daveney Ellis and Adrian Green were really good and had the crowd enthralled by their performances.
This is the second year for the charity concert, which was conceptualised by the seven-member HIV and AIDS Committee of the Barbados Government Information Service to highlight the creativity of Bajan artists and reenforce positive messages about healthy sexual choices.
Other performers included Divine Harmony, Blake Broomes, DJ Simmons, N3W Motion, vocalists Lynelle Larix Russell, Erika Alexei, Philip 7, Rhesa Garnes, Simon Pipe, Hal Linton, Marisa Lindsay and Wesu Wallace.
The MCs were DJ Salt and the GIS’ Lisa Bayley who kept the show flowing.
The GIS committee should take a bow for a job well done. (DS)
