A true Queen
Even before emcee Jamarr Browne announced the winner, the audience was sure Miss Superstyles Shoe Shop, Alicia Trotman, was the brightest Diamond in the Sky, outshining her competition at the Miss Holetown Queen of the Festival.
With a winning smile and strong personality, Trotman swept away the prizes for Miss Congeniality, Best Gown and Best Talent, along with first place, from six other contestants last night at the Fredrick G. Smith Secondary School auditorium.
For her talent, Trotman donned a Mother Sally costume to display the beauty of the island’s heritage through dance, featuring songs from Li’l Rick, Alison Hinds and Red Plastic Bag.
First runner-up went to Miss Mango Bay Hotel, Tiffany Goodridge. The awards for second runner-up and Most Improved Contestant were won by Miss Next Step Inc., Maya Kellman. Miss Bajanfuhlife.com, Kristal Eversley, was judged to be the Most Photogenic, and will be the 2014 Face of Settlers: The West Coast Experience as part of her prize.
Miss Nulook Company, Janesia Pitt, Miss M-Pact Screen Printers, Keshia Pope and Miss Jordan and Jordan Associates, Simone Mottley, also participated in Miss Holetown Queen of the Festival.
Those in the modestly-sized, but appreciative audience were treated to entertainment from up and coming talent, like Jonathan Jeffrey as well as the Haringey Young Musicians jazz and steel ensembles. (LW)
