Deighton Griffith Old Scholars get second win
Defending champions Deighton Griffith Old Scholars defeated Princess Margaret Old Scholars by ten runs to register their second win in the fifth annual Christ Church Foundation School Joel Garner Twenty20 tapeball tournament at Briar Hall last night.
Fortunes fluctuated as Princess Margaret were bowled out for 111 in 19.4 overs after they were set 122 for victory in the Lee Harford Skeete/Lewiston Wellington Zone A match.
Princess Margaret reached 75 for three by the end of the 13th over but then collapsed against a combination of pace from Marlon Franklyn and Ashley Nurse’s off-spin.
Left-hander Shawn Gittens topscored with 33 at No. 3 before his dismissal, leg before wicket by Nurse, led to the decline.
Franklyn took three for 17, Barbados player Nurse, three for 28 and left-arm spinner Derick Bishop, two for 12.
Terry Pilgrim led the way with 30 not out in a Deighton Griffith total of 121 for six after they won the toss.
