Training for taxi drivers

Taxi and coach drivers and other transport operators involved in the tourism industry who want to take their skills to a new level will now have an opportunity to do so, when the Passenger Transport Service Operator Training Programme begins next week.

Coordinated by the Ministry of Tourism and facilitated by the Barbados Community College, the training course will feature eight modules: History and Geography of Barbados (inclusive of knowledge and culture of Barbados as a tourist destination); Quality Customer Service (inclusive of passengers with disabilities); Effective Communication (inclusive of current affairs); Foreign Language Skills (basic courtesies in a minimum of three foreign languages); and Business Management.

Persons may register at the BCC from February 11, between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The programme, which will be conducted on Sundays at the BCC, will begin on May 5.

The first cohort of the Passenger Transport Service Operator Training Programme graduated last December, with participants confirming that despite their many years of experience, they were able to glean valuable information during the course.
