Foundation get better of Alexandra Old Scholars
Livy Hoyte Foundation School beat newcomers Alexandra Old Scholars by 25 runs in the fifth annual Christ Church Foundation School Joel Garner Twenty20 Tapeball Tournament at Briar Hall, Christ Church last night.
After being sent in, Foundation scored 142 for four off 20 overs in the Irvine King/Hugh Barker Zone C.
Opener Shomari Davis led the way with 48, while Barbados’ Under-19 team all-rounder Aaron Jones made 29 not out and coach Nhamo Winn, 23. Davis and Winn added 64 for the third wicket.
Medium-pacer Barrington Yearwood took two for 18 off four overs.
Alexandra then collapsed from 57 for one in the ninth over to 59 for five by the end of the tenth over before being bowled out for 117 in 18.5 overs.
Their problems were mainly caused by pacer Jofra Archer, who took four for eight in a lively four-over spell from the northern end, including three wickets in his first over off the first, fourth and last deliveries.
Leg-spinner Aaron Jones picked up two for 22.
Don O’neal scored 17, skipper Brian Corbin, 14 and Rondelle Yearwood, 11. Extras were a whopping 44.
