Couple shot while feeding pet dogs

PORT OF SPAIN — A Santa Flora couple were shot while feeding their dogs outside their home on Saturday.

Derrick Capriette Mitchell and Amanda Mohammed, both 33, of Alexander Village, were shot in their chests.

Police said around 8:30 p.m., they were outside their home feeding their dogs when they heard a loud explosion coming from the bushes.

Mitchell was struck by several pellets just below his neck, while Mohammed was struck by one pellet.

Mohammed was treated and discharged at Siparia Health Centre, while Mitchell was warded at San Fernando General Hospital.

The couple have two children, aged ten and eight years old, who were not at home at the time of the shooting.

Police are yet to ascertain a motive for the shooting. (Express)
