Anglican Church tackling violence
The Anglican Church is taking on the issue of family violence at the end of this month.
Under the theme “The Anglican Church responding to Family Violence”, the Social Justice Commission has organised a seminar for clergy on Thursday, January 31 at the Christ Church Parish Centre.
The aims of the seminar are to educate the clergy on matters relating to family violence and to suggest ways in which the church may respond to family violence.
At the event, which begins at 10 a.m., there will be 10-minute presentations by representatives of the Child Care Board, National Assistance Board, Welfare Department, SAVE Foundation and Barbados Business and Professional Women’s Club.
Afterwards, these organisations will be joined by personnel from the Government Industrial Schools, Barbados Family Planning Association, Bureau of Gender Affairs and the police for a panel discussion that will be based mainly on questions and suggestions by the clergy. (LB)
