Gibson to stay on

Ottis Gibson is staying on as West Indies cricket coach.

This follows reports from The Independent newspaper’s online edition over the weekend that Gibson would be going to England to take up the director of coaching position at Warwickshire. However sources indicate that Gibson, whose contract ends in March, recently met with the WICB directors who at the time were having a board meeting in St Lucia. He reportedly outlined his position to them and they took into consideration that he had met the targets they had set him and hence, they were able to re-negotiate with him to keep him in the post.

Gibson left with the rest of the West Indies players tonight for Australia where they will play five One-day internationals and Twenty20.

The squad arrives in Australia on Saturday.††
